Students in grades K-5th may enroll for a modified weekly schedule in which the student receives instruction from the classroom teacher on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the parent becomes the ‘at-home instructor’ on Tuesday and Thursday. (This option is not available at the middle and high school levels. Pre-Kindergarten students may enroll for either a three-day or a five-day week with no teaching required at home on Tuesday or Thursday.)
Families who choose the three-day enrollment option are agreeing to partner with us in the education of their child. The days the child is taught at home are considered actual school days and count as part of the school calendar. Therefore, the parent must be accountable to teach the lessons and ensure that his/her child has learned the material. (We require the parent to be actively involved in teaching, and avoid having the students do the work independently). The next day the regular classroom teacher will present the next lesson, and together, the job of educating the child is accomplished in a very effective way. Many parents like this approach because it helps them see strengths in their child, and gives them an opportunity to provide remediation if they see their child is struggling with a concept.
Each week the classroom teacher prepares lesson plans and gives the parents specific page numbers and lessons that are to be completed at home on Tuesday and Thursday. In order to follow these lesson plans, parents are required to purchase teacher’s guides for each subject taught. A list of required teacher’s guides will be given to you just prior to the beginning of the school year. We also host a back-to-school workshop where the teacher will help you learn how to use the teacher’s guides, use the lesson plans, and how to best work with him/her in educating your child.
Please make a careful consideration of what is required of you when you choose to enroll your child in the 3-day option. It will only be as successful as you make it. Keep in mind that if you don’t teach your child on Tuesday and Thursday, your child will have missed about 40% of their instruction!

Working closely with a teacher to team-teach a child can be a wonderful experience. Please prayerfully consider your involvement and see if this is the best method of education for your child. If you are unsure of any of the above items, it may be best to consider the five-day option, as you want to be sure your child gets the best education possible.
